The former political and economic center of ancient Rome is the Roman Forum. Embedded between the three hills Capitoline, Palatine and Esquiline, the impressive ruins and columns of the center of life of the ancient Romans await you in this valley. Right here, Rome developed into a world power.A forum – incidentally, the counterpart of the Greek “agora” – was in Roman times the central marketplace of a city, lined with temples and public buildings. So not only did markets take place here, but meetings were also held, political decisions were made, and emperors were crowned. It was the center of politics and economy, but also of cultural and religious life. The Roman Forum was built as early as the 6th century BC. Today, because of this, it is considered one of the most important excavation sites of ancient Rome and should be high on your list! How much does it cost to enter the Roman Forum? There is only one combined ticket for the Roman Forum, with which you can also visit the Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. So with one ticket you get entry to three top sights of ancient Rome at once. In addition, there are of course numerous offers for preferential admission, which are a bit more expensive, but worth it in any case for the Colosseum. Admission is also included in the Roma Pass!

Late summer is perfect for the last shopping trips, and where is the best place to find the most beautiful and cheapest bargains? Right, at the flea market. Luckily, there are several flea markets in Rome that offer antiques, fashion pieces and other odds and ends with history. It’s best to get to the stalls as early as possible, because the early bird catches the worm! One of my absolute secret tips among the flea markets in Rome is the Flea Market in Sannio/San Giovanni: A bit different but charming, the market is located at the metro station Giovanni and invites you to stroll around. The market actually has a roof and is already a special sight from the outside. Here you can find from noble fashion to cheap imitation really everything. I wouldn’t recommend buying brand-name clothes, because you often only find out if they’re real after you’ve bought them … so look out for unique pieces that may look a bit unimpressive, but can be a real eye-catcher!But watch out: At flea markets, pickpockets may well be up to mischief. So carry your valuables close to your body in a fanny pack!
